Haiti - Politic : Marco Rubio urges Nations to support the GSF
On Thursday, December 4th, 2025, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio called on Nations in Latin America and beyond to contribute to efforts to stabilize Haiti, within the framework of the Gang Supression Force (GSF), in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 2793 adopted on September 30, 2025. https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-45891-haiti-flash-the-security-council-has-voted-for-the-new-gang-repression-force.html

Rubio made this appeal during a signing ceremony at the State Department, in the presence of Kenyan President William Ruto. He praised the "extraordinary role, really heroic role, in trying to help stabilize Haiti," as Washington seeks to begin a new phase of its intervention in Haiti, focused, according to the Secretary of State, on the establishment of the GSF.

"We understand and believe they cannot do it by themselves. So I wanted to use this as an opportunity to continue to encourage countries in the region and around the world to step up and contribute and be a part of this effort. We need their money. We need their funds, and we need their personnel as well to make this work," he said, adding, "If we had five or 10 countries willing to step forward and do just half of what Kenya has done already, it would be an extraordinary achievement, and we hope that that will happen. It needs to happen if we're serious about it. It needs to happen."
