End of Mandate Ceremony for the CPT

On Saturday, February 7, a ceremony will be held at the Villa d’Accueil to mark the end of the mandate of the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT). Laurent St-Cyr, President and Coordinator of the CPT, will deliver a farewell address in the presence of the diplomatic corps and several guests, and will hand over the reins of power to the Prime Minister, who will be responsible for ensuring the continuity of the State.

Fake kidnapping, 3 arrest

During an operation in the localities of Bas-Gaillard and Kadah, in the Cayes-Jacmel area, conducted by investigators from the Southeast Departmental Judicial Police Service (SDPJ-SE), with the support of agents from the Departmental Unit for Maintaining Order (UDMO), Thibeaud Michel André (34 years old), Chéry Carlo (23 years old), and Francois Farah (16 years old) were arrested for staging a kidnapping and criminal conspiracy.

Jacmel : An American arrested

Two boxes of cartridges hidden in a humanitarian shipment destined for an orphanage in Cayes were discovered at the Jacmel wharf. An American citizen, Ronald Sanon, who had come to receive them, was arrested and taken into custody.

Winter Olympics : Haitian Skiers' Outfits

The Haitian Olympic Committee (COH) unveiled the outfits for the Haitian skiers for the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics. Designed by Stella Jean in collaboration with former Italian ski champion Pietro Vitalini, these outfits are distinguished by their unique character: they are the only ones in the competition to have been hand-painted. They are based on the visual world of Haitian artist Édouard Duval-Carrié, a major figure in contemporary Caribbean art, whose work explores history, memory, and resistance. The Haitian team consists of Richardson Viano, competing in alpine skiing, and Stevenson Savart, a Nordic skiing specialist. Donation of 1.5 tons of medical supplies and medicines:

As part of its commitment to ensuring continuity of care for displaced persons in the West Department, the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) donated approximately 1.5 tons of medical supplies and medicines to the West Department Health Directorate of the Ministry of Public Health to support the implementation of mobile clinics. Thanks to this support, nearly 12,000 people will be able to receive essential care, particularly those living with chronic illnesses such as diabetes, hypertension, or respiratory conditions. The package also includes wound care supplies, based on needs identified in the field.
