Haiti mobilizes its international partners

On Thursday, April 23, 2026, on the sidelines of the Security Council meeting devoted to the quarterly report of the UN Secretary-General on BINUH, the Prime Minister of Haiti, Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Raina Forbin, participated in a side event co-organized by the Permanent Missions of Haiti and Canada to the United Nations.

This meeting brought together some sixty Member States, including the United States, France, Germany, Kenya, El Salvador, the Dominican Republic, China, and Brazil, as well as several international organizations and partners. Also in attendance were senior officials, including Jack Christofides, Special Representative-designate of the Force for the Supression of Gangs (GSF), Catherine Russell (UNICEF), and Carlos G. Ruiz Massieu, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Haiti.

The event aimed to strengthen coordination among Security Council members, countries contributing to the GRF, and all partners working alongside Haiti.

In his address, the Prime Minister called for increased mobilization of the international community to support the State's efforts regarding security and the resumption of the electoral process. He emphasized the urgency of the full deployment of the GRF and the need for strengthened support for key reforms, particularly in the areas of justice and the fight against impunity.
