This year again, the Ministry of National Education celebrated National Educators' Day. A tribute ceremony was held on Friday, May 15, 2026, in Pétion-ville, in the presence of Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé and several members of his government.

"This morning, alongside the Minister of Education, I salute the heroic courage and unwavering determination of our educators. I join in this tribute to honor those who carry the spirit of our nation on their shoulders [...] Educators, you are the silent guardians of the Republic, you are the patient architects of national stability, you are the builders of this new Haiti that we all so fervently desire. You sow the seeds of knowledge, dignity, and hope in people's minds. That is why, on behalf of the entire nation, I offer you today my most sincere and grateful tribute," declared the Prime Minister.

For his part, Vijonet Déméro, the Minister of National Education, reiterated his commitment to working towards improving the working conditions of educators, who are the true architects of national consciousness and the guarantors of hope.

According to Minister Déméro, the long-awaited change will not materialize without the active participation of the country’s educators. "Nothing is possible without their presence in the classroom. My team and I are convinced that the recovery of the education system requires better training for our educators and a legitimate increase in their salaries," the Minister of National Education asserted.

Elysé Colagene, Director General of the National Education Fund (FNE), acknowledged that this ceremony represents an act of profound gratitude towards educators. He commended the courage and dedication of those who shape the spirit and soul of Haiti.

The ceremony was marked by the presentation of "Honor and Merit" plaques to the recipients. On this occasion, the Head of the Haitian Government presented the two national laureates of the official examinations for the Teacher Training College and Kindergarten Teacher Training College (ENIJE) with their letters of appointment.

It should be noted that other tribute ceremonies were held the same day in the nine other Departmental Directorates of Education (DDE). More than sixty educators were recognized for their national contributions on Friday, May 15, 2026.
