The Consulate General of the Republic of Haiti in Chicago informs to have led to Haiti, last month, its first delegation of investors within the framework of the business diplomacy advocated by the Chancellor Laurent Lamothe.

Several Haitian-American doctors and American based in the United States have created the organization "Direct Initiatives to Support Haiti" (DISH) whose mission is to raise funds in order to be actively involved in the reconstruction of country, particularly in the areas of health, education and housing.

After several weeks of talks with the General Consulate, the organization has finally reached a consensus to lead in Haiti the delegation of investors composed of Dr Fred Grynberg, of Dr Kansky Delisma, of Dr Kostiya Peki, of Dr Patrick Romeus, of Dr Mytchell Chancy and the photographer Jean-Pierre Dodel.

Thanks to the sustained intervention of Consul Mary Gertrude J. Beauboeuf, rushed to the site by the Consulate General of Chicago, members of the delegation met senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Dr. Florence Guillaume Duperval, the Minister of Public Health and Population. The delegation visited several sites and have begun negotiations to purchase land in the outskirts of Port-au-Prince, for the construction of a Medical Center. Mr. Ady Jean Gardy, the Chief of Cabinet of Minister Lamothe and the Consul Bauboeuf, gave all the necessary guidance and support to the delegation during its stay of 4 days in Port-au-Prince.

On the report of the delegation, the Executive Committee of DISH, has submitted, by letters to the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Public Health, a proposal for the signing of a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding to ensure the success of the execution of various projects selected.

The Consulate General of the Republic of Haiti in Chicago thanks all those who in one way or another, have contributed to the success of this first mission and that it is already established the necessary contacts to conduct its next delegation of investors in Haiti.
