Haiti - Religion : Marie Evelyn César, new Secretary of State to the Ministry of Religious Affairs
Laurent Lamothe, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Religious Affairs has proceeded yesterday Wednesday, February 15 at the inauguration of the new Secretary of State, Mrs. Marie Evelyn César. In his installation speech, the Minister declared "...The President chose you Madam Secretary of State, to demonstrate the importance of the Ministry of Religious Affairs in the vision he has, for the country develops. The mission is not something else, than to defend those who believe in the 'Grand Master' that keeps us healthy and helps us to realize our dreams. Despite the difficult situation that everybody lives, whatever their religion, he wants that everybody put their hands to rebuild Haiti.

Today, the installation of the new Secretary of State means that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Religious Affairs , take all provision so that the freedom of religion is respected as it should be, and that each religion act with the State, so that there is good investments in all areas, such as children's education, universities, hospitals, orphanages, investments in agriculture, investments in public works and in charitable and humanitarian fields. [...]

...good institutions are needed, such as the Ministry of Religious Affairs, to gather the energies of everyone, to accomplish its mission. [...] as requested by the Constitution in its Article 30 'All religions and all cults are free. Everyone has the right to profess its religion and its cult, as long as the exercise of this right does not disturb the public order and peace.' The work of the Ministry of Religion, it is to facilitate the gathering of all religions in the country, so they can participate in the reconstruction, in Peace, order and unity.

We pledge to respect all concordats, all agreements that have been signed with the church. We make this commitment firmly, so that the rights of individuals are respected. Madam Secretary, we rely on you to continue to keep good relations with Heads of Churches, Archbishops, Bishops, Pastors, deacons, voodoo, masons, philosophical associations, with all other religions to respect the laws of the country.

We will encourage training, education and exchanges between religious organizations that are here, with those abroad, so that they can pursue the same goal of helping the Haitian people.

We could not be here today if we did not have the support of the Church, that is why the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Religious Affairs has decided to put all the resources that are available to serve this dream, to rebuild the country we all love. While all of us, we gather with each other, while the Ministry doing what it can to do good all the time, with more people every day, Madam Secretary, I will tell you to finish, good job the mission is in your hands..."
