![]() Haiti - Economy : Cross-border trade, urgent problems to solve 23/02/2012 09:41:27
The Economist has raised the need to develop a plan of legal and institutional development to allow the transborder market to convert to an element of economic development for both nations. "Maintaining and expanding trade is one of the tasks on hold of development between the two nations" highlighting the difficulties that exist in cross-border trade among others: the absence of a bilateral body, to rule on all disputes in commercial matters, the lack of protocol for land transport of goods ; the absence of rate regulation and the establishment of sanitary measures arbitrary. The economist also mentioned the disagreements that end with road blocks, which raise costs for exporters and limit the competitiveness of traded goods. He argues that for the markets continue and expand their cross-border interest that must necessarily be done by a bilateral dialogue that must be addressed including : the discretionary application of customs duties and trade barriers that restrict trade, and the existence of monopolies in the road transport on both sides of the border...
