Haiti - Economy : Government aid for market traders of Tabarre

Following the destruction of the Public Market of Tabarre on the night of 24 to 25 February 2012, where thousands of traders have seen go up in smoke all their goods, the President Martelly announced Monday that the activities would resume soon.

To this end, he announced that the Government was currently to release funds to help traders, adding that the BRH (Bank of the Republic of Haiti) currently had 5 million dollars available, to which is added 44 million gourdes from the Ministry of Finance (40 million Gdes) and from the City of Tabarre (4 million Gdes).

For her part Yanick Mézil, the Minister for Women, ionformed that UN Women had also started to provide funds for additional assistance. The Minister informed the merchants that they can receive a loan through "Fonkoze" and that an insurance plan whose they will be the beneficiaries was under consideration.
