Haiti - Politic : Churches call the 3 powers to reason
Mgr. Pierre-André Dumas, representative of the Catholic Church within the platform "Religions for Peace" which brings together leaders from several religious denominations including Catholic churches, Protestant and voodoo, appeals to the three powers "...we address in this hour particularly serious this solemn appeal to the three branches of government, Executive, Legislative and Judicial so that they observe a break from all activities and all the speeches that are likely to exacerbate the tensions in this socio-political atmosphere confused and chaotic [...] We do not have the solution of problems, but we want to play a facilitating role https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-5122-haiti-politic-the-president-martelly-proves-that-he-is-not-a-us-citizen.html to find lasting and effective solutions [...] We must all get high and pose the real problems of the nation to find solutions," stressed Mgr. Dumas adding that meetings have already begun with the political class, the sectors of human rights and business.

For his part the Protestant Pastor Sylvain Exantus also launched a message to the Nation "...we invite all the active forces of the nation to show more spiritual intelligence to understand the current issues and prepare to respond to our invitation for a national dialogue open, sincere and honest, the future of the country is engaged, but we still believe in civic virtues and patriotism of the Haitian people to save the common Homeland..."

However, before the crises that accumulate in the country, among others: the absence of Prime Minister, the case of dual nationality, the armed occupation of the former military base, the appointment of communal committees, the delay of the elections, the Business contracts without tendering... one might wonder if the Platform "Religions for Peace" will be enough influences to allow stakeholders to take a break in these multiple crises... But any effort in the context is undoubtedly welcome.
