Among the personalities present we should note : Cyprien Richard, the Champion of Ski of Morzine-Avoriaz in the France team, whose we no longer count the medals, which made the opening du Giant Sunday and the presentation of medals as well as Florence Masnada, Olympic medalist and Elise Pellegrin the champion of the ski team of Malta which aims the Olympic Games of Sochi in 2014.
The snow conditions were exceptional, several tens of centimeters fell in the night, but the weather was very bad: Snow and fog to cut with a knife, but nevertheless, difficult challenges, the Haitians have seen others and this is not 3 snowflakes that stopped our competitors of the tropics ; 11 Haitians aged 10 to 68 years accompanied at the departure of about sixty competitors and supporters came to support them [37 competitors for the Slalom and 55 for the Giant] have participated in this championship.
ince this weekend, we have a new star of Haitian ski : Benoit Etoc, which has beat our World Champion of Haiti, Jean Pierre Roy. Benoit is the Haitian rising star of Ski, our hope for to XXII Olympic Winter Games of Sochi in 2014.
Many young of the ki club Morzine-Avoriaz came to compete with Jean Pierre Roy, "Rasta Piquet" which finished 78th in the World Championships in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in 2011. Everyone has found its place ! The good and less good, the native-born Haitians and the Haitians in Heart.
Jean Pierre, also President of the Haitian Federation of Ski has supported 3 young Haitians to enable them to participate, without his intervention, their presence would not have been possible.
He also gave 300 football uniforms, obtained through the communication around the event to the association WillSport who work to send sports equipment to Haiti. The White Gold should also assume a part of the fees to send the containers full of sports equipment by WillSport towards Haiti.
The requests for the second edition of the Haitian Ski Championships were many. A pre-booking date was made for January 26-27, 2013.The event will be called "Haiti's Hope Ski Cup" and will integrate the haitian Ski Championships, but also many other activities to make of this event a great celebration of generosity around of ski and Haiti.
