Haiti - Education : The Consul General of Haiti in New York runs for education ! 23/04/2012 13:37:05 The Consul completed this 4-miles run (6.44 km) in 43 minutes followed by the Consulate staff who completed the run in 44 minutes. Charles A. Forbin declared "As soon as I heard about the run and what the cause was for, I signed up. It's especially important that we support organizations which aspire to do good for our country. [...] The run cost only 20 dollars to sign up, and members of the consulate raised over $1,000.00 toward education in Haiti. Every $5 gives a month's supply of classroom materials for an entire class, while $50 provides uniforms and shoes for 2 children, $90 provides a student’s books for a year, and every $1000 gives desks, chairs, pencils, chalk and a blackboard for 50 students..." Nearly 1,700 runners and walkers showed their support for education in Haiti by participating in the run. Concern Worlwide's monetary goal was to raise $155,000 but the day ended with a whopping $195,844. Congratulations to the Consul General of Haiti in New York and all his staff, who seem to have no limits when it is a question to helping the country. BF/ HaitiLibre
