Haiti - Reconstruction : 3rd popular conference in Montreal

Several hundred members of the Haitian community of Montreal are together once again to discuss the future of Haiti and the problem of the reconstructing of country, on the occasion of the 3rd popular conference, to be held on May 18 and 19, 2012 at the Hôtel Auberge Universel 5000 Sherbrooke East.

The conference opened Friday with a presentation of the former Representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations in Haiti, Edmond Mulet, on the new paradigm of relations between the international community and the Haitian state. Recall that the latter had been very critical of the management of international aid to Haiti and the excessive importance given to NGOs to the detriment of the Haitian state https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-2986-haiti-politic-edmond-mulet-expresses-his-frustration.html

The workshops of this Saturday, May 19 will be animated by a panel of speakers who will intervene on different aspects of international cooperation with Haiti :

  • Haiti and foreign aid: for effective aid by Dr. Jean Fils-Aimé (Doctor of Theology)

  • Haiti and International Relations by Professor Wilson Saintelmy

  • Haiti and globalization by Dr. Donald Cuchioletta (Lecturer at the UQM)

  • Development projects Managers without borders by Me Jean Ernest Pierre.
