Friday on the sidelines of the graduation ceremony at the School of Magistrates (EMA) of 20 new magistrates, the President Martelly clarified its position on the publication of the amended text of the Constitution of 1987.

"...no matter what you do, there will always be people with you and persons against you... Today I am the President of the Republic of Haiti, my mission is to lead the country on the road of his destiny. I can say that it is in my hands, so it's not something I take lightly you can be sure of that, I weigh it [the decision] for one year...

We looked at the reason for doing or not doing it, hen we made the weight of things, we saw that MAYBE that in publishing it [the amended Constitution] there will be major progress for democracy, a great victory. For example, the establishment of the Permanent Electoral Council, the CSPJ, the Constitutional Courts [...] this three things, would be victories.

Since the Constitution was passed, no one has managed to do these things. These problems that we have are they the cause of the fact that there are always crises ? That these electoral conflicts particularly, because of the Provisional Electoral Council, which still exists and that puts the country into instability.

Today it is not a question to please one group or to be afraid of another group, it is ultimately to change things in Haiti and it would be already a first, to have these three institutions functional and, the President Martelly gives more importance to the future of Haiti that the opinion of certain persons [...] we will shortly organize an event around our decision ONCE WE WILL BE READY..."
