Haiti - Social : Paralysis of the Hospital Notre Dame of Petit-Goâve
This Sunday, June 10, Dr. Gustave Jean François, cting Director of the hospital of Petit-Goâve, has informed, during a press conference, of he paralysis of the Hospital of reference of the Goâvienne region. Doctors in social service and nurses, have decided to observe a work stoppage in protest, against the physical assault whose a nurse was the victim in the performance of his duties after that a group of individuals from the popular neighborhood "Nan Percin" broke into a room of the hospital to pursue a wounded boy, Dimitri Lindor, who had just received several blows in a fight...

"For now, only a core of emergency works," declare the Director. While condemning this act of aggression, he plans to take further security measures and has sought the cooperation of the local population. He also asked the central authorities, to increase the number of doctors at the level of the hospital and suggested that be organized, with members of civil society and notables of the city, a forum on the crisis that crosses this hospital for many months...

This work stoppage further exacerbates the situation of the hospital who was already facing a lack of human resources, "The main problem of the Hospital Notre-Dame of Petit-Goâve is and remains, a lack of technical people which almost does not exist. If I present the list of staff, you will see a high number of employees in three major categories, but in reality there are only 11 doctors in social service and of nurse [...] We need specialized doctors: pediatricians, surgeons, orthopedists, internists, gynecologists that's why I ask the Ministry of Health o increase the technical staff of the hospital," explained Dr. Jean François.
