Haiti - Economy : Many interests around the «Caravan of Investment»
The Consulate General of Haiti in Atlanta, officially closed Wednesday, June 27 the "Caravan of Investment" at Paschals to Castleberry Hills. Over 100 business leaders as well as the Consuls General of Czechoslovakia, the Philippines, Canada, England and Vice-Mayor of Atlanta attended the conference under the theme "Haiti is open for Business".

Recall that the Caravan of Investment had previously stopped in Orlando and Miami. The Consul General of Haiti in Atlanta, Thomas Gandy, wished to stress for the Haitian community of Georgia, who is the largest Haitian community of SouthEast of the United States after that of Miami, that the time has come for business people, go to Haiti to invest in these times of reconstruction and economic emergence "Our new government believes that to change Haiti we must open our arms to welcome foreign businessmen from all parts of the globe [...] Our goal is to make Haiti as a gateway to the Caribbean as it used to be."

Ceasar Mitchell, Atlanta City Council President, who went to Haiti last March, accompanied some businessmen tated that its trade mission in the country, was an experience "transformative", an experience that made him realize this isn't a one-way relationship, saying "It is an opportunity for us here in Atlanta to be engaged with our friends and businesses in Haiti. It is not just an opportunity for them !" encouraging entrepreneurs to get out there, to see the different opportunities offered by the country.



Karl Jean-Louis, Director General of CFI, made ​​a presentation of the role played by the CFI while supporting those who wish to invest in Haiti. Messrs. Henri Claude Poitevien [Director of Industrial Park Caracol] and Erick Balthazar, presented a slide show based on the current implementation of the industrial park of Caracol (north of Haiti) and the opportunities offered by the region in areas such as textiles, agriculture, tourism, energy etc... They have attracted the attention not only of potential foreign investors in the audience, but also that of Haitian entrepreneurs.
