Haiti - Justice : The CSPJ puts an end to the arbitrary nominations
Wednesday, at its first working meeting, following its installation, the Supreme Council of Judicial Power (CSPJ) requested, in accordance with the law governing the CSPJ, to all courts and Court of Appeals of country, to no longer make any oaths of Magistrates, recalling that now these Magistrates must be certified before taking the oath and assume their duties and responsibilities.

The first measure is the first important change in current practices, who until now allowed to nominate Judges, of Judges of Peace without that they are certified and without considering the criteria set in the Organic Law of CSPJ. For example, to become a Judges of Peace a person must have [among others] 8 years of experience, be law graduate or be a law professor...
