![]() Haiti - Culture : Resumption of «Literary Fridays» 10/08/2012 12:56:49
Inaugurated in December 1994 under the auspices of the University Caraïbes and animated in the first five years by the writer Lyonel Trouillot, the Literary Fridays are a place of expression and of encounter offered to producers of literary texts, without distinction of age, or status. The model session is composed of readings f texts (extracts from novels, short stories, tales, poems, stage readings) in French and Haitian Creole. Performs also in this space of authors, composers, performers who are generally accompanied by the guitar. This choice of free expression, allows to have an idea of the diversity that characterizes more and more the Haitian literary production. First audio anthology of Literary Fridays The audio anthology proposes texts and songs of some thirty authors whose age varies, whose paths, social, living standards, personal culture, are extremely different. Of creators enjoying a reputation nationally and or internationally, such Georges Castera, Franketienne, René Belance, Lyonel Trouillot, Claude Pierre, Josaphat Large, Evelyne Trouillot... alongside young talents such Wilkair Fégond, Faubert Bolivar, Jean Ephèle Milcé, Jean Yves Mételus... The success of Literary Fridays consists to put, in the same listening, the creators to equality. It goes without saying that the scriptures are here significantly different and testify of the individuality as well as trends or currents that marked or influenced the Haitian writings. The Ministry of Culture through the program Arcades and European Development Fund financially support these "Literary Fridays." HL/ HaitiLibre
