Haiti - Social : Financial support from the Government, to Haitian students in Senegal
Almost 2 years ago, former President Abdoulaye Wade, had decided to host 162 students in Senegal so that they continue their studies in universities throughout the country : 102 at the University Cheikh Anta Diop of Dakar (UCAD), 26 at the Regional University Centre (CUR) of Thies, 2 to the CUR, of Ziguinchor, 2 to the CUR od Bambey and 30 at the University Gaston Berger of Saint-Louis.

For several months, those responsible of the Centre of 'Oeuvres Universitaires' of Dakar (COUD) ask the 36 Haitian students, housed in the City Aline Sitoe Diatta, to regularize their situation. Indeed, 5 months since the rents of our countrymen, have not been paid. Recall that this issue was managed by the Office of the President (Abdoulaye Wade), who paid directly the COUD.

Since the change of Government, our students are left to themselves not only for the expenses of rent, but also for living expenses...

The Haitian Ministry, of Foreign Affairs just provided financial support to the Haitian students with scholarships living in Senegal, and who are in difficulties. This effort of Haitian government, should enable them to meet their needs until next November.

Pierre-Richard Casimir, the new Minister of Foreign Affairs, has indicated that this financial support is aapproach punctual, which follows a visit to Senegal, to inquire about the social situation of our students in the Senegalese capital.

Other support must follow in the coming days. The Embassy of Haiti in Paris which also covers Senegal, has also played its part in this issue, in order to to help our 162 students.
