Haiti - Social : The Government and Digicel, a quick and concrete support
Less than one day after Issac had reached the coast of Haiti, a team was rapidly deployed by the Government to help people who have lost their temporary shelter. In partnership with Digicel, through its program TchoTcho Mobile, over 5,000 people have benefited from a transfer of 500 gourdes ($12 USD) through their mobile phones to enable them to get food and basic products.

The team of social workers, set up by the Government has the role to register in the program TchoTcho mobile, the victims upon their arrival to the shelter. The account TchoTcho Mobile, allows each person to receive an immediate transfer of money through his mobile phone. These funds can be used to purchase at a local retailer or withdrawn it in cash in all Digicel points of sale or at an authorized agent TchoTcho mobile.

These remittances are sent in the evening to the persons registered during the day. These accompanying measures will continue during the next 3 weeks.
