Haiti - Security : Adoption by the CSPN, of development plan of the PNH, 2012-2016
In order to make more professional the National Police of Haiti and ensure the process of securitization of the country, the Supreme Council of the National Police (CSPN), held August 31, 2012, its eleventh extraordinary meeting in the Conference Room of the Primature.

Have taken part in the meeting of the Supreme Council of the Police enlarged, in addition to its Members, of Representatives of the Haitian Government and Embassies of Canada, United States, France, Japan and of the Minustah member of the joint Commission of support to the National Police.

Remember that this Joint Commission, was set up at the summit of the National Police, June 29, 2012 and had the mission to examine the draft Development Plan 2012-2016 as well as the career plan within the Police, to ensure the consideration of the guidelines set by the Haitian authorities and create the conditions for a effective and better coordination of the assistance from the international community to the police Institution.

The flagship event of this meeting was the adoption by the Supreme Council of the National Police, of the final version of the development plan of the National Police 2012-2016.

This plan provides among other : the increasing of Police staff to bring them to 15,000 officers minimum by 2016 ; the establishment of a quick reaction force with the strengthening of the Task Force of the National Police (GIPNH) ; the implementation of the Border Police ; the extension of police coverage in all municipalities and communal sections of the country and the creation of a Directorate for the Protection of High Personalities (VIP) and of Surveillance of Public Buildings.

At present, the National Police has a five-year plan for the continuation of its professionalization and for its development, while the international communityseen to be created a framework better mastered in which it will exercise its support.
