Haiti - Security : The Night Football Championship «Ti Sourit» banned 06/09/2012 11:21:40
Jean Helson Royal, Vice-delegate of the arrondissement of Jacmel, bans formally all activities of the Night Football Championship, nicknamed "Ti Sourit". This decision was taken following a clash, in the evening of September 2 in the street Isaac Pardo, during the course of a football match between the team "gròg" and "Jamaïca", where stones and bottles were thrown for more than an hour, causing several casualties. Wednesday at a press conference, Jean Helson Royal stated that this decision to ban these nocturnal activities, was made in consultation with the departmental authorities. He also stressed that this type of activity does not comply with safety standards. This decision was applauded by many sectors of the population. "It was time to take this sanction against this kind of activity of night which usually begins around the 9:00 pm to 2:00 in the morning. Where the sound of DJ prevents residents from sleeping," said a young boy. Others have criticized the disorder that resulted this nocturnal activity where there was always a high consumption of alcohol and cigarettes among adolescents. To remedy this situation, which led young and adults to the debauchery, all Championship at night are interrupted. The Vice delegate stressed, that the public action, will be set in motion to punish anyone who does not respect this decision. HL/ Claudy Bélizaire (Correspondant Jacmel)
