Haiti - Security : Measures of Traffic Services before school starts

Three weeks before the new school year fixed this year, October 1, 2012, the Commissioner Will Dimanche, Director of Traffic and Traffic Police explained some measures, that he intended to implement to facilitate access to schools for students "[...] near schools we will remove the motorcycles stations and markets for example. The merchant on the sidewalks have already received a notice, so that when the school start, they release the sidewalks. A week before the Haitian school starts, we will begin to remove the merchant [which would not have respect the notice] [...]"

Moreover, regarding the wearing of seat belts, the Commissioner Dimanche believes that there is no reason not to put his belt, citing the example of sudden braking and the consequences for the drivers and his passengers. Concerning those who drive in vehicles without seatbelts, Mr. Dimanche explained "...for the vehicles that we stop, that are not in conformity, we take their license, we give theme a ticket as a warning, we send them to install a seatbelt and when they return with the vehicle equipped with a safety belt, we give them their license, and they do not pay..."
