Haiti - FLASH : Me Elco St Armand «renounces to his position» after 24 hours

While yesterday we announced you that he Government Commissioner, near the Civil Court of Port-au-Prince, was replaced by Me Elco Saint-Amant, and that the latter should take office since yesterday after his swearing, 24 hours after, Me Elco St Armand has "renounces to his position" according to Me Jean Renel Sanon, Minister of Justice and Public Security.

Me Jean-Claude Dabrésil, current substitute to the prosecutor becomes (if he accepts) the new acting Government Commissioner of Port-au-Prince.

Now the reason for this decision has not been made public by the concerned. But some information suggest that this decision could be related to the past of Me St Armand, which in 2001, then substitute commissioner of the government, had been laid off by the Minister of Justice at the time, Me Gary Lissade for alleged corruption.

Regarding Me Jean Renel Sénatus which was replaced yesterday, the Minister of Justice stated that "the choices are made according to the situations. The one to dimiss Me Senatus is imposed by the situation."
