![]() Haiti - Tourism : 1000 hotel rooms by the end of 2012 03/10/2012 15:22:56
The hotel industry is booming to Pétion-Ville with the strengthening of some hotels such as : the NH El Rancho, the Karibe Hôtel, the Kinam and the grand opening in December of the "Royal Oasis" with more than a hundred rooms. Mr. Ulrick Emmanuel Noël, Investment Director of the Tourism Ministry stated that the country will have a thousand hotel rooms by the end of the year. The President Martelly in his speech last week at the International Day of Tourism, recalled "Haiti has the opportunity and resources to become a unique tourist destination in the Caribbean, we also insist that the Government continues to provide all the necessary resources in order to make of the tourism as a key of economic development. To this end, decisive steps have already been cleared, the budget of various projects of the Ministry of Tourism for the next fiscal year has been increased by 67%. I note with satisfaction that the Ministry of Tourism strategy is based on responsibility and sustainability, to the new concept of integrated tourism development areas, opens an opportunity for the development of ethical tourism, responsible, which promotes the inclusion of communities. That tourism development must take into account the various recommendations relating to the use of renewable energy, waste and wastewater treatment and water supply, in accordance with the Government's commitment in terms of respect for environment. Such tourism development must contribute to the economic revival and stability of a country whose we want to show the beauty to the whole world. I strongly hope that this year, thanks to the sustainable tourism our economy reaches the level of expected growth. [...] Everyone remembers the halcyon days where visitors flocked from all sides in our country. They were fascinated by our hospitality of people, the colored magic of our landscape and our soft sandy beach where we were lulled by the sound of palms dancing to the wind wave. These blessed times must return because we do not have lost what made our charm, the smile of our landscapes brightens yet our daily lives and the shimmering colors of our sites continue to delight the eyes. [...] Knowing the contribution of tourism in the economic development of the people, I would make every effort to ensure that this sector of activity finds the dynamism he had known here in the past. I feel all the more encouraged to do it that Haiti has an undeniable human, cultural, historical and tourist potential who has already given the proofs of this extraordinary ability to attract."
