Haiti - Army : Young will undergo military training in Ecuador
The President Michel Martelly, received on Monday at the National Palace, 8 young people selected by the Ministry of Defence, in order to undergo a military training of four years to the Eloy Alfaro Superior Military School (Quito, Ecuador), in the context of the cooperation between the two countries. These are : Ernst St-Louis, Evenson Ilant, Sadrac Ladouceur, Mario Carl Erby Florestal, Jean Elie Pierre Paul, Werby B. Jean, Nioventz Vixamarre and Judney B. Jean.

The presentation ceremony of the young to the press, took place in the presence, among others, of the Ambassador of Ecuador in Haiti, Carlos Lopez, the Minister of Defence, Mr Jean Rodolphe Joazile accompanied of his Director General Mr. Carel Alexander, of Senator John Joël Joseph, the Secretary-General of the Primature, Me Michel Brunache and the Director General of the National Police of Haiti, Mr. Godson Aurélus.

"This training falls within the framework of cooperation agreements between Ecuador and Haiti. In fact, we are picking the fruits of my visit in Ecuador last July. During my official visit to Quito, I signed two cooperation agreements. One defines the general framework of cooperation between the two countries and the other concerns the support of Ecuador to the reconstruction of Haiti," indicated the Head of State.

These 8 young people were selected following a rigorous process conducted jointly by the Haitian Ministry of Defence and of officials of the Military School Ecuadorian, came to Haiti for this purpose. Cadets, whose training will begin immediately, must leave the country on Monday afternoon.

The President Martelly, took the opportunity to express his appreciation to his Ecuadorian counterpart, Mr. Rafael Correa, who reaffirms day by day its firm commitment to the people of Haiti. The thanks of the Head of State are extended to the Government and people of Ecuador for their support in various fields particularly affecting people with disabilities and of social programs.

"The historical ties between our two fraternal peoples are strengthened even more and, over time, will eventually make disappear the spatial boundaries that separate us," said the Head of State.

In addition, 10 civil engineers were selected for training in vertical construction, engineering, rural roads and bridges, and water purification techniques. Thirty other civil engineering technicians will soon receive the same training. "The formation of these two groups of professionals will last from January to September 2013. They will, upon their return to Haiti, the elements of the first component of the new public force," announced the President Martelly" "These new provisions confirm my determination to stimulate the creation of a new public force, in addition to the National Police of Haiti, whose the strengthening and professionalization are more than ever engaged. The recruitment of these cadets and engineers and technicians reflects the orientation that will be given to this new public force. It will be mainly directed towards the protection of the environment and the territory against major natural hazards, towards the development activities, therefore the reconstruction, as the contingent Ecuadorian nstalled in Petite-Rivière."

The Head of State remains convinced that the new force must also maintain a constant rapprochement with the population, and should always listen it "I am very sensitive to this issue. I asked the Minister of Defence to ensure this. Moreover, all the military cooperation with Ecuador is eveloped in this regard."
