Haiti - Politic : The President Martelly defines its priorities with Japan

With the Japanese economic newspaper, "The Nikkei Weekly", the Head of State insisted on the necessity that Haiti establish with Japan a cooperation based, not on assistantships but on sustainable development. Through the new priorities established in the areas of tourism, agriculture, public infrastructure, the textile industry and energy, the opening of regional markets is fundamental declared the President Martelly, who reminded that 34% of world trade in the Americas, passes into Haitian waters.

Haiti, which became President of the Committee of Foreign Trade of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS), expects growth perspectives up to 6.9% for the year 2012-2013. During his last visit to Haiti, Dr. Jim Yong Kim, President of the World Bank, has noted, while admitting the level of commitment that remained to take to achieve the objectives "While Haiti's recovery has been impressive, the reconstruction and development require a sustained and consistent effort on the long-term," he declared.

Haiti work hard, according to the Head of State, who reported to the Journal, the efforts to facilitate and ensure foreign investment in the country. "The registration time of foreign companies declined from 105 to 10 days. The presence of several multinational in Haiti, from Mexico, South Korea, Vietnam, Colombia, Japan, is already being felt, both in the textile industry, of telecommunications than at the public infrastructure development.

The President Martelly also mentionned among other : the efforts to rebuild the country and of relocation of victims of the January 12, 2010. Over 3,500 social housing already built, construction techniques implemented, 1,287,214 children enrolled in the Universal Schooling Program Free and Compulsory, of fforts to reduce Haiti's vulnerability to major natural events, and in term of agricultural development and environmental.

The President Martelly has finally asked Japan to participate in the establishment of a expertise mission, in order to help facilitate the introduction of Japanese companies in Haiti.
