Haiti - Social : The calm is back in Grand Anse
Ady Jean Gardy, the Minister of Communications went in the department of Grand Anse, for a 3-days mission for the purpose to put an end to unfounded rumors, that fed for over a week, of violent demonstrations, which paralyzed economic activity in the region and restore calm, in particular in Jérémie.

Mobilizing a dozen local radio stations, the Minister has issued calls for calm as well as relevant information on emergency interventions of the State in favor of the population. In addition, the engineer Jacques Rousseau, Minister of Public Works, also disseminated information messages and gave the guarantee for the resumption of infrastructure works to the Grand'Anse, with in addition, new bridges over rivers Voldrogue, Roseau and Guinaudee, as well as the supply of 5 megawatt in Jérémie.

During his mission, Minister Jean Gardy also met several decision makers and community leaders in the town of Jérémie, among others : Mgr. Marc Arthur Emile, Vicar General of the Diocese of Jérémie, Judge Jean Kesner Numa, Dean of the Civil Court of Jérémie, Vice Delegate Torchon Jean Schiller, Jean Louis Victor of the Association of Schools of Jérémie, of leaders of popular organizations whose Athema Laurent Baptista of the Coordination Resistance Grand'Anse (COREGA).

The Minister transmitted to them a set of relevant information useful for maintaining calm. Through its actions, the Minister, supporting the efforts of other ministries including that of the Interior and of Relations between the Executive and the Parliament, has be able to reassure the population and allowed people to resume its activities in the quiet for two days

Ady Jean Gardy has promised to maintain a permanent dialogue with the various municipalities of the Department in order to make advance their claims in the context of the search for sustainable development.

Following this mission, the Association of Schools of Jérémie mentioned the possibility of reopening closed schools to the Grand Anse, from next Monday.
