Haiti - Tourism : Discussion on hospitality training with Antigua & Barbuda
Following the agreement signed on 18 December 2012 between Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin, the Minister of Tourism and Mr. Calvin Ambrose, Executive Director of the Antigua and Barbuda Hospitality Training Institute (ABHTI), the ABHTI and the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Haiti, began discussions on areas of cooperation.

Mr. Calvin Ambrose, Executive Director of the ABHTI toured the Ecole Hoteliere D'Haiti hospitality Institute to witness its operations and practical examination of a cohort of students, and met with Mr. Gerard Therilien, Director and Mr. Daniel Denis, Training Director - both of the Ministry of Tourism to initiate discussions and planning on staff and student exchange, curriculum development, the elaboration of a strategic plan for training in the short to medium term and train between 800-1000 students over a 2 year period.

Speaking after the tour of the facilities, the ABHTI Executive Director explained that there is much that can be done to enhance the programme offerings at the Ecole Hoteliere D'Haiti and under the new partnership it would be realized.

According to Ambrose, it is expected that both countries' Ministers of Tourism will meet early in 2013 to establish further synergies and cooperation for tourism destination marketing and branding.
