Haiti - Technology : Launch of electronic declaration system by internet

Marie-Carmelle Jean-Marie, Minister of Economy and Finance, proceeded Thursday at the launch of the e-declaration, an electronic system that allows taxpayers to make online their income declaration electronically (e-declaration) from the website of the Directorate General of Taxes (DGI) www.dgi.gouv.ht This service has been made possible due to a financial agreement of more than 100,000 U.S. dollars between the Ministry of Finance and the firm Turbo System.

A technical support phone, open open office hours, was put in place : 2811-0448 and 2258-11110.

TCA forms, of declaration of payroll deduction, request for discharge, request of turnover, tax license and of functioning of limited company among others, are available at www.mefhaiti.gouv.ht

In addition, a phone line 2258-1011, to receive only comments and advice on the tax collection and customs, is also available during office hours. Correspondence on this subject may be addressed to the Office of the Secretary of State for Tax Reform at # 5 on the Avenue Charles Sumner, or sent by email to: reformefiscalehaiti@gmail.com

"Taxpayers can now file their declaration manually by downloading the form or online by internet," said Jean Baptiste Clark Neptune, the Director of the DGI "[...] This is a first step that is done and that allows taxpayers to use the Internet to access and have the service of the tax administration. But imagine when we will arrive to put in direct access all the systems, including taxes, passport application [...] plate of your vehicle [...] number fiscal well, when we will reach this stage [...] The taxpayer will realize its operation by himself from his home, and at this time is that 95% of the corruption that you see in the administration that will disappear because between the taxpayer and the administration there will be the computer that will solve this issue. This is what we must see, and this is where e-governance will lead us [...] Thanks to the e-declaration, taxpayers will no longer need to make the trip to the DGI," reminding employees, professionals, traders, etc... that they have until January 31, 2013, final deadline for filing their tax declaration...
