Haiti - Education : Scholarships in Mexico, some details

The Embassy of the Republic of Haiti in Mexico, referring to the agreement signed November 26, 2012 in Port-au-Prince, Pierre Richard Casimir, Foreign Minister and the Ambassador of Mexico, Luis Manuel Lopez Moreno, provides some details :

  • The Mexican Government grants 300 scholarships of higher education, to Haitian nationals in the framework of its cultural cooperation with Haiti, scholarships will be awarded as follows: 125 in 2013, 100 in 2014 and 75 in 2015;

  • The management of these scholarships is ensured jointly by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Haiti and the Mexican Embassy in Port-au-Prince

  • The recipients of these scholarships must commit at the end of their studies, to return to Haiti to put their knowledge at the service of Haiti.

For more information on the selection process, students may contact the Directorate of Cultural Affairs of Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Haiti or the Mexican Embassy in Port-au-Prince. In addition, Haitian nationals, lawfully admitted to the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico (UAEM) may, if they meet the requirements, apply for a scholarship, under the agreement signed December 3, 2012 between the Embassy and the Rector of the University.

The Autonomous University of the State of Mexico, which has its headquarters in the city of Toluca de Lerdo was established in 1828 and currently offers hundred and twenty eight (128) licensing programs. It has an enrollment of over 65,000 students on 15 campuses. Two Mexican presidents including the current, Enrique Peña Nieto, are graduates of this prestigious university center.
