Mrs. Fidelia replaces Daniel Supplice to this position.

Speech by Bernice Fidelia :
"Mr. Daniel Supplice, Minister of Haitians Living Abroad,

Mrs. Rose-Anne Auguste, Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister, Responsible for Human Rights and the Fight against Extreme Poverty

I would like first thank the President of the Republic, His Excellency Michel Joseph Martelly and Prime Minister, HE Mr. Laurent Lamothe Salvador for the confidence they have placed in me by appointing me Minister of Haitians Living Abroadand for having focused their choice on my modest person subject to my academic career and my professional experience. Also, I will try to do my best every day during my mission to improve the quality of service and to exercise transparency in all my actions taken on behalf of the Haitian State.

This choice, which honors me of the highest distinction of the Haitian diaspora gives me an exciting challenge to put myself at the service of the government to perform a task which is not insignificant.

The interest of the President and the Prime Minister have expressed towards the diaspora is known to all. They not only placed the demands of the diaspora in their program, but they also have early led a fierce battle to make accept them by the Legislative Assembly. On behalf of the diaspora, I thank them.

The country lives in an era of great changes in the world and in the region. A lot of countries use their diaspora to help them get through what they have and their knowledge to cope with these changes become engines of economic and social development. Our President understands this process and began to engage without hesitation.

Ladies and Gentlemen and all Haitians who hear me here and elsewhere, today I would like express you all the joy I feel by this choice, and also the pride that I have to serve my country. My task today is to givemore confidence the people of the diaspora and to create a sense of confidence based on a climate of cooperation among Haitians on each side of the ocean. It will be my task in the coming days to make this pious wish of the government. It is a great challenge indeed, but I promise to execute it with God's help and your support. I see in the reports that we will have the opportunity to create synergies between the government and the diaspora which I have the pleasure to represent. The Ministry will seek to be worthy to meet the requirements posed by the government's policy in terms of promotion and good governance.

Let me thank you all of you who work in the administration and you who makes me the honor to be here today. My greatest wish is that you can find in these terms, the expression of my gratitude. We must always give the best of ourselves in our relationships, our suggestions and meetings. The work conceived and executed in a team is very likely to lead to better results.

However, the collaboration needs respect for each other. I am a collaborator among you, and so I rely on your sincere cooperation.

Finally, I would like to congratulate my predecessor, the Minister Supplice for the efforts made to improve the organization of the diaspora.

Thank you !"
