Haiti - CELAC-EU : Costa Rica and Ireland alongside Haiti 29/01/2013 10:36:10 Several topics were discussed with Ms. Chinchilla including, environmental cooperation between the two countries. The Head of State expressed his interest for the environmental issues in Haiti and proposed a cooperation with Costa Rica, known for its expertise in environmental protection. For her part, Ms. Chinchilla convinced of the efforts of Haitian Head of State for the dynamic development of cooperation with Haiti, said she was in favor that the two countries closer in this field. She also discussed with the President Martelly [current President "pro tempore" of the CARICOM], how multilateral organizations can work together to better integrate the Centre Region America and the Caribbean. With Mr. Eamon Gilmore, the Head of State shared his preoccupations for the year 2013 and compiled an inventory of the development process in Haiti through its 5 "E". The President Martelly has also stressed the necessity to strengthen development projects in Haiti, in the fields of environment, job creation, agricultural rehabilitation and protection of investments.
