Objectives :
Origin of the project in Haiti : In December 2011, the President Martelly had visited Venezuela on the occasion of the Summit for the Foundation of the Community of Latin American States. As part of this event, the Head of State attended a concert by a group of orchestras and choirs of Venezuelan system, conducted by Gustavo Dudamel. The President had expressed his admiration for the demonstration of more than 600 young people on stage and enthusiastically expressed his interest to replicate in Haiti. Thus the President Martelly, has created the National Institute of Music and the Symphony Orchestra Juvenile and Infantile of Haiti on June 11, 2012, with the explicit aim to develop a music education program similar to that founded by maestro José Antonio Abreu in Venezuela.
