Haiti - Tourism : Donation of equipment to the Hotel School of Haiti

The organizers of the culinary festival "Goût et Saveurs Lakay" proceeded last week to a hand over of equipment to the responsible of the Hotel School of Haiti for students in cooking. This donation valued at 3,600 U.S. dollars, fulfills a promise made ​​by "Goût et Saveurs Lakay" at the Food Festival, which was held from 28 September to 7 October 2012 in various tourist establishments (hotels and restaurants) in the metropolitan area of Port-au-Prince.

"It is with a sense of satisfaction that I receive this donation of equipment provided to the school. We see in this act that others understand the meaning of our work in this sector aimed at train young people in the hospitality and culinary arts in the country," declared Gérard Thérilien, Director of the Hotel School of Haiti.

Stéphane Berette Durand of Culinary Events, Jean Max Chauvet of Nouvelliste, Agnès Pierre-Louis of the Tourism Association of Haiti (ATH) and the Ministry of Tourism, main organizers of the Food Festival "Goût et Saveurs Lakay", have emphasized on the necessity to accelerate the formation culinary and in hospitality, at a time when big hotels are preparing to settle in the country.

The Hotel School of Haiti currently receives 130 students in the first session (morning) and 250 in the second shift (evening) for training in baking, cooking, restaurant and banquet.
