Haiti - Politic : Bicameral Commission, the disagreement persists 16/02/2013 12:27:05 After an initial proposal for the composition 9 deputies and 4 Senators (9-4) rejected by the Senate, followed by a new parity proposal Monday 7-7, questioned by the Lower House, which calls two additional members (9-7 ), Jean Tholbert Alexis, President of the Lower House, continues to refute the requirement to form a Commission which is in parity, which is not included in the agreement of 24 December 2012, stating that the number is not a problem, an opinion not shared by the Senate. For his part, the deputy adrack Dieudonné, President of the opposition minority bloc "Parliamentarians For Institutional Strengthening" (PRI) whose members have refused to sit on this Commission, says, it is a commission "de facto" since the latter has not been sanctioned by the Assembly. Remarks not shared by the deputy Abel Descollines, which states that nothing in the Agreement of 24 December indicates that this Commission must be approved by the Assembly. Concerning the number of Commissioners [which continues to increase] on this Bicameral Commission he asserts that there is no requirement that its composition is parity, noting that there are about 99 deputies and 20 senators only... A sufficient number to increase the number of Commissioner in a context more and more ludicrous. Hopefully that Monday, deputies and senators will have found the reason "of State"...
