Haiti - Culture : Josette Darguste a Minister very busy...
Since her appointment, Josette Darguste, the new Minister of Culture has not been idle. Last week, the Minister of Culture had a working meeting for the organization of a show highlighting the performing arts in honor of the great visionary Henri Christophe. The staging of this show will be under the responsibility of Régine Montrosier Trouillot of the dance school of the same name and will take place on 11, May 12, 2013 at the Palace Sans Souci (Milot, Cap-Haitien).

Saturday, as part of its policy to rehabilitate the Haitian memory and protect sacred shrines of the country, the Minister and members of his cabinet visited the three main lakou of Artibonite in Gonaïves "Souvenance, Soukri and Badjo" in line with the vision of the Head of State, which intends to regulate the lakous and preserve the cultural traditions. The Minister held discussions with the "sèvitè" around the problems faced by families living in these lakou. Marie Carmelle Delva, Georges Fernand Bien-Aimé, Dorsainvil Estimé, respectively "sèvitè" of Soukri, Souvenance and Badjo reported major problems: lack of drinking water, schools, clinics. However, they congratulated the Ministry for its manifest interest in favor of the protection of lakous and their appreciation to the Government for its attention towards these sacred places.

Tuesday, Josette Darguste, had a working session with Corinne Micaelli, Director of the French Institute of Haiti, about the exhibition "Haiti Kingdom of this World" to be held from March 9 to April 13, 2013 in Jacmel . The exhibition, which will showcase the creative vitality of Haitian artists bring together almost 30 pieces contemporary in painting, sculpture, recovery, installation, video of 17 great personalities of Haitian art. The Minister welcomed the initiative and pledged the support of the Ministry in the implementation of this activity.



That same day, the Minister held discussions via videoconference with the authorities of Antigua around a partnership agreement between the two countries. Three points were addressed during this meeting : the organization of an arts festival from 9 to 15 April in Antigua, the realization of a training program of 12 weeks for 70 Haitian students at the University of West Indies and a cooperation between the two countries in the sport. Also took part in the videoconference, Magalie Racine, the Minister of Youth, Sports and Civic Action, Marina Gourgue, the Secretary of State for Vocational Training, Edner Jean-Nelson, the National Authorising and Mr. Edouard Excellent, Technical Advisor of the National Authorising.

Wednesday, took place the second meeting of the Advisory Board of Tourism (CCT), was among others present at the meeting, Stephanie Villedrouin, the Minister of Tourism and Minister Darguste. On the agenda: the Action Plan 2012-2013 of the Ministry of Tourism ; review of internal regulations of the CCT, discussion and approval at the meeting ; tourist tax and questions of general interest...

That same day Mrs. Josette Darguste, accompanied by the Directors General of the ISPAN and of MUPANAH Monique Rocourt and Michèle Frisch, have had a working meeting with Mr. Yuri Horowitz, the representative of "Tourism Cares" around the technical and financial requirements for the promotion of tourism and the protection of National Historical Park of North.
