Haiti - Tourism : 2-days tour of Vice-President of the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line in the North
Following numerous meetings between the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line (RCCL), the company responsible for Labadee Beach and the Ministry of Tourism, Frank Byrne, Vice-President of "Hotel Operation" of RCCL, conducted a 2-days tour, to see the progress of infrastructure projects realized by the Ministry of Tourism in Northern and the possibilities to bring the cruise passengers to visit the National Historic Park and the Historic Downtown of Cap-Haitien.

On Tuesday, he visited accompanied by a delegation, the Historic Downtown of Cap-Haitien, and the Craft Market Cap Haitien, freshly reconstructed by the Ministry of Tourism, in order to provide, in a package, a better product for tourists.

Wednesday, the delegation went to Milot where the Ministry is finalizing projects of basic infrastructure, including an infirmary, information kiosks, the Craft Market, sanitary and a Mini-Bar Restaurant to offer a warm welcome to visitors of international level, who will come live the experience of the destination north. After exploring the Sans-Souci Palace and the Citadelle la Ferrière, During a press conference, Mr. Byrne stated that after 25 years, there are now many efforts being made to attract hikers towards the wonders of the North. Frank Byrne, believes it will take a lot of logistics to the RCCL, to cruise the passengers.



For her part, Ms. Dieudonne Luma Étienne, the Regional Director North, of Ministry of Tourism, expressed her satisfaction regarding the progress and realization of different projects which, according to her will allow more tourists to visit the North. Stressing that "This visit allows us to know that the dream becomes a reality, that also proves that we have the will to develop the destination North," announcing at this occasion, the construction of a police sub-station to Choiseul (Milot) on the site where are the projects of the Ministry. Monès Augustus, the Chief Commissioner of the PNH-North, who participated in the delegation, said he had come to see where the sub-station could be built, what according to him, will make the site much more comfortable in terms of security for tourists.

Finally, the delegation went to the Bay of Acul du Nord, to visit the construction of the pier and tourist infrastructure, that will allow to better receive the RCCL cruise passengers that will to visit the historic National Park composed of the Citadelle la Ferrière, of Sans Souci Palace and of Sites Ramiers. According to the Civil Engineer Esaïe Termonfils, esponsible for the site, this project estimated at nearly $1.2 million will be in operation within 3 or 4 months.
