Haiti - Environment : First Edition of «Ayiti Bèl Ayiti Vèt»

The First edition of this international sporting event, which gathered all sports lovers of nature and environmental protection, will take place from March 7 to 10 on the Côte des Arcadins. "Ayiti Bèl Ayiti Vèt" will take place from March 7 to 10 on the Côte des Arcadins. "Ayiti Bèl Ayiti Vèt" is a citizen initiative that develops and supports projects to protect the environment through outdoor sports that are part of a logic of awareness, education and training of local actors.

This annual great sporting event that intend to serve as a model across the country, is a collaboration with community associations of the area, the Regional Council of Côte des Arcadins (CRCA), the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Haitian-Canadian, the Tourist Association of Haiti, the Ministry of Tourism, of the Public Health, of the Environment and Youth, Sports and Civic Action.

Sporting activities during these days :

  • Crossing, swimming and kayaking of 5.6 km

  • Pedestrian excursion in Kay Piat of 4.6 kilometers (in the mountains)

  • Cycle trek in Kay Piat of 14.8 km round-trip (in the mountains)

Each kilometers walked, cycled, swam or swam by each participant, will be sponsored to raise funds to finance the protection of coastal and marine resources in the implementation of the following projects :

  • The remediation of specific regions of the zone (hotels, market Montrouis Arcadins islets) by the integrated management of raw materials (waste) and the creation of a mini recycling facilities to pack, store and sell the collected objects ;

  • Recycling, planting of mangroves and the establishment of nurseries for the area of ​​Kay Piat, the place chosen by hoteliers for the holding of tours for visitors of teh region ;

  • Restoration of coral cropora Cervicornis (staghorn coral) (projet Foprobim, www.foprobim.org).

Swimming course :

Red line: running fish, 1.6 km

Yellow line: race whales and mermaids, 5.6 km

Hiking and cycling routes :

Yellow line: path of the shuttle to arrive on site hiking

Red + Blue route: hiking path, 4.6 km

Orange route: route of the cycling, 14.8 km
