Monday, following his tour of 3 days [14, 15 and 16 March 2013] the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, who was accompanied by a delegation composed of Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin, the Minister of Tourism, Gamal Augustin, Deputy Director General of the National Radio and Television of Haiti (RTNH), and senior officials of the public administration, went to Aruba and the Turks and Caicos.

The Head of Government explained to the press, that this positive tour, had helped to strengthen ties of friendship and solidarity with these two countries, and permitted to consider the establishment of new partnerships, particularly in the fields of tourism and infrastructure.

In Aruba "I met my counterpart, Michel Godfried Eman with whom I had a very successful working session on relations of cooperation between our two countries [...] There will be reciprocal visits in order to develop the technical cooperation and strengthen the public-private partnership," adding that a delegation from the Ministry of Tourism will travel soon to Aruba to work on the model of tourism development of Aruba. "This is an innovative model that will allow us to build better and faster [...]" declared Laurent Lamothe, who announced the opening of a Consulate of Haiti in Aruba in the next 3 months.

Should be noted that Aruba, with a little over 100,000 people, generates nearly 40% of its revenue from the tourism industry and annually receives nearly 1,7 million visitors.

In the Turks and Caicos Islands, the Prime Minister Lamothe met among others, his counterpart Dr. Rufus Ewing, with whom he discussed the problems faced by the Haitian community "I promosed them to work together to formalize the status of our compatriots [...] they are open to work on that."

The Prime Minister also met the Haitian community living on these islands, in order to inquire about the challenges faced by our compatriots, in order to provide immediate and lasting solutions.

At the end of his press conference, the Prime Minister has reiterated its commitment to continue to explore avenues of cooperation with the countries of the region, in order to allow Haiti to strengthen its trade relations in the Caribbean Basin.
