Haiti - Politic : Towards a strengthening of the cooperation between Côte d'Ivoire and Haiti
At the invitation of the Prime Minister also Minister of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire, Daniel Kablan Duncan, Laurent Lamothe, the Prime Minister also Minister of Planning and External Cooperation, is on an official visit in Côte d'Ivoire from 27 to 29 March 2013.

Thursday, the Prime Minister and the Prime Minister Lamothe, Duncan had face to face discussions, followed by a working session of both delegations (Ivorian and Haiti), chaired by the two Heads of Government, in which they expressed their views on national, bilateral, regional and international issues, n an atmosphere of cordiality and understanding perfect.

In a joint statement, dated March 28 and bearing the signature of, Ally Coulibaly, Minister of the African Integration and Ivorians of Abroad and Pierre-Richard Casimir Minister of Foreign Affairs and Religious Affairs it is stated that during this working session, the results of work of work of their Ministers on several issues of cooperation were ratified and that it was signed :

- A cooperation framework agreement
- A Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs.

Security :
The two Prime Ministers reaffirmed that the development and progress can not be achieved without internal stability and subregional and recognized the need for increased police cooperation, to fight against new forms of crime, in particular terrorism, cybercrime and piracy. Both parties have also agreed on a cooperation to strengthen the National Police of Haiti, especially its components of early intervention. They also agreed on the reception of Haitian students in the military and police training schools of Côte d'Ivoire.

Economy, Trade and Investment :
Both delegations noted that the level of trade were below the real potential of their countries and the quality of their cooperation. To remedy this, they agreed to adopt legal instruments and to take all necessary measures to promote an increase in the volume of trade by solving among other things, the issue of rules of origin of certain products. Also, both parties agree on the need to conclude a mutual investment protection and of no double taxation.

The two delegations also recognized the many opportunities offered by their economies and underlined the need to strengthen their cooperation to obtain mutual benefit. In this regard, they encouraged the Ivorian private sector and Haitian to further intensify their efforts to establish a win-win partnership.

Agricultural Sector :
The two delegations agreed to strengthen and further diversify their cooperation in agro-industry, especially in the field of coffee and cocoa.

Environment :
The two delegations supported the signing of cooperation agreements in the fields of Water and Forestry and Animal Resources and Fishery.

Natural Resources :
In the mining, oil and energy sectors, the two countries have advocated the signing of cooperation agreements, covering the areas of supply of minerals ; petroleum products, the technical training in the oil sector ; the intensification of exchanges at ministerial departments in charge of energy.

Education, Higher Education and Scientific Research :
The two delegations agreed on the need to strengthen cooperation in the field of Education, Higher Education and Scientific Research, through inter alia, exchange programs in the field of training, the equivalence of diplomas, granting scholarships and of research, organization of seminars and of study travels.

Culture and Francophonie :
The two countries have decided to expand their cooperation in the fields of Culture, under the enormous potential they have.

Promotion of Youth :
The two countries agreed to intensify their cooperation to ensure better promotion of their youth and develop the institutional capacity of structures responsible for youth.

Sports :
The two countries agreed to intensify their cooperation in sport through, including, of programs to exchange experiences and of training to further boost the sport in each of the two Nations. To this end, the two parties agreed of the organization in Haiti, of a football match between the national teams of the two countries.

Projects of Cooperation Agreement :
The Ivorian Prime Minister noted that Haiti has submitted to the Côte d'Ivoire, several projects of cooperation agreement in the fields of Agro Industry, Services, Banks, Insurance, Taxation and the Education. All these projects will be reviewed and harmonized under the Joint Commission of Cooperation under the Framework Agreement of Cooperation signed by the two countries.

Free movement of persons :
In order to facilitate the free movement of persons between the two countries, the Ivorian Government gave its agreement for the exemption of visas for the Haitians holders of official passports, diplomatic and of service. Moreover, regarding the businesswomen and businessmen in Haiti, it is envisaged the issuing of long-term visa with multiple entries.

International cooperation :
The two Prime Ministers welcomed the convergence of views of the two countries on multilateral issues and agreed to further harmonize their policies in within international bodies and regional and sub-regional organizations.

Laurent Lamothe expressed to Prime Minister Daniel Kablan Duncan, to the Ivorian Government and people, his deep gratitude and sincere appreciation for the warm welcome and fraternal, as well as authentic African hospitality and the valuable marks of attention, he and the accompanying delegation received.

He also expressed his conviction that his visit to Côte d'Ivoire, will help further strengthen the close relations, fraternal and secular, which so happily exist between the two countries.

The Prime Minister Lamothe, on behalf of President Michel Martelly, has sent an invitation to Ivory Coast President Alassane Ouattara and to Prime Minister Duncan to come on an official visit to Haiti. Invitation, which, according to the Ivorian Prime Minister, will be forwarded to the highest recipient and whose date will be fixed through diplomatic channels.
