Haiti - Social : National Day of Movement of the Haitian Women (message of the President) 04/04/2013 09:37:51
Message of President Michel Martelly : "Women of my country, I still remember of this April 3, 1986, where you had affirmed your willingness to fight for the full exercise of your rights and freedoms. This memorable moment who testified of your political maturity marked a turning point in our history and in your march toward equality and justice. This April 3 devoted to the 'commemorate the National Day of Movement of the Haitian Women' is an opportunity to take stock of your situation and your fight for equality. This is also the time to continue discussions for the progressive implementation of the rule of law in Haiti. On behalf of the Haitian Nation and on my own behalf, I pay a solemn tribute to all those generations of women who have dedicated themselves, body and soul, to the struggle for freedom and empowerment of women in Haiti. Women of Haiti I want to say that this new Haiti that you plan in your relentless pursuit of a better tomorrow, is the one I covet and that I am committed to building through my daily efforts for national recovery. The train of actions that I initiated will not slow its course as long as will not be eliminated all forms of discrimination based on gender. The time has come for us to move beyond protests and declarations so that finally the abuse and violence perpetrated against women be condemned and punished by the competent authorities. I wish to reiterate my personal belief and political on the issue of equality. I asked the whole government to work in this direction, because a greater representation of women in the sphere of political decisions and the administrations and agencies, can only be beneficial to the community. San fanm, pèson pa tap la-a. Nan moman jounen nasyonal mouvman fanm ayisyèn nan, map di nou ak tout kè’m, ak tout nanm mwen, mwen avek nou lan batay pou nou pote chanjman pou nou ka gen lot Ayiti a. Yon Ayiti san vyolans sou fanm, san eksklizyon, san diskriminasyon, kote fi ak gason gen menm dwa pou yo travay pou yo vinn otonòm pou yo ka pran destin yo an men. Mwen vle, ak tout fòs, konstwi yon Leta kap bay tout fanm Dayiti aksè a yon jistis san fòs koté, kap bay bon jan enkadreman sosyal pou fanm yo ka viv nan respè ak diyite. Mwen vle tout fanm Dayiti pran responsablite sitoyèn yo lan pote kontribisyion yo pou yo patisipe lan rekonstriksyon peyi-a pou Ayiti ka dekole tout bon. Egalite nap chache nan sosyete-a ant fanm ak gason, mwen vle di nou li le li tan pou nou jwen li e map fe tout sa’m kapab pou’m soutni tout efò nap fè nan sans sa-a. Ane sa, pou jounen nasyonal fanm Dayiti yo. Mwen ta swete pou tout fanm Dayiti jwen yon aktivite lan men yo. Yon jan pou yo ka vin’n gran moun tet yo, pou yo ka sòti lan depandans, lan vyolans, lan grangou ak lamizè. Otonomi, egalite, parite. Se sa mwen ta swete pou sosyete a ofri nou definitivman nan okazyon jounen fanm Dayiti jodi-a e mwen pwomèt nou map kontinye batay bò kote nou e avek nou pou sa vinn yon realite tout bon. Women of my country, Pillars of the Haitian economy, you are cultivators, traders, embroiderers, tailors, maid, engineers, agronomists, heavy equipment drivers, business leader, to mention only these trades. The country's economy relies heavily on your shoulders and you are often alone to support a family. You wear deeper values such as citizenship, generosity, hard work, commitment, sense of family, love of neighbor whose all Haitians should be inspired and that should be an integral part of the education of our children. I can not end without a special thought for all those who have disappeared, carrying away the hope of a better tomorrow for all Haitian women. Happy National Day to our brave citizens.
