Haiti - Economy : Index of Consumer Prices (March 2013) 19/04/2013 10:50:13 This monthly increase is the result of the upward trend in all functions of consumption. Among the largest increases, we note those "Food, Beverages and Tobacco" (+ 0.8%), "Rent Housing, Energy and Water" (+ 0.6%) and "Other Goods and Services" (+0.4%). The other consumption functions such as: Clothing, Equipment, Maintenance of the Housing, the Health and the Transport, experienced more moderate increases ranging from +0.1 to +0.2%. The increase in function "Food, Beverages and Tobacco" is attributable to the rising of products such as rice (+0.4%), corn in grain (+1.2%), beef (+0.9%), those pork, goat and chicken (+0.7%), fresh fish (+1.5%), cod (+1.9%), avocado (+1.2%), banana (+1.3%), the giraumon (3%), dry peas (+0.6%), cabbage (+1.8%), the fungus (+4.3%), yam (+1.7%), potatoes (+1.2%), potato land (+2.9%) and lemon (+12.0%). The increase in "Rent Housing, Energy and Water" function comes exclusively from the price increase in Rent housing (+1.4%). The upward trend observed in the index "Other Goods and Services" is dur to the price fluctuations of shampoo (+0.8%), perfume, eau de toilette (0.4%), dry toilet (+1.9%) and body cream (+0.5%).
