Monday, April 22, as part of the World Earth Day, the President Michel Martelly accompanied among others by, Jean Francois Thomas, Minister of the Environment, conducted an assessment visit mainly in Jalousie and Debussy where work of infrastructure are underway to protect and preserve the Morne Hospital. "The time has arrived for the state to fully assume its responsibilities regarding the protection and preservation of Morne Hospital. For their part, citizens must also respect the protected areas," declared the President Martelly.

In Jalousie in the presence of Mrs. Brutus Yvanca Jolicoeur, President of the Municipal Commission of Petion-Ville, the Head of State, followed by a group of enthusiastic residents, walked into the muddy waters to inspect the construction of a retention pond of sediments and stormwater Ravine Loe Menard.

In Debussy, specifically in "Zabriko", he also visited the construction of a stone bund of 2 meters wide and a band of three rows of vetiver followed by a band of Bamboo, called Green Barrier, which will cover 10.5 kilometers from Jalousie Diquini through Carrefour Feuilles, whose objective is to define the already occupied areas, of those considered sterile.

Currently work is progressing apace: about 3 km have been built in 4 weeks on several segments. As of 1 May, the bands of Vetiver and Bamboo will be planted behind the cords already completed. Thanks to this work, more than 1,100 jobs have already been created.
