Haiti - Politic : The Director General of the ONA, victim of aggression in the Senate...
The General Secretariat of the Primature strongly condemned the aggression, Monday, April 29, 2013, against Bernard Degraff, the Director General of the National Old Age Insurance Office (ONA), inside the Legislative Building while he was there at the invitation of the Social Affairs Committee of the Senate (in open session), to explain among other on the numerous charges of corruption, unfair dismissal, spending and excessive salaries, violation of the organic law of the institution, etc... in the presence among others, of persons claiming to be former employees dismissed.

At the end of his hearing, Mr. Degraff, whose the explanations have no satisfied the members of the Senate Committee, who also demand his resignation, as he prepared to leave the Chamber, former employees very angry, showing hostile banners, ave strongly pushed physically, before the security officers of Parliament, intervene to regain control of the situation and restore calm.

Describing of unacceptable this regrettable act committed against the Director General of the ONA, the General Secretariat of the Primature called the Legislative power to take all steps to ensure the safety and the respect for the physical integrity of each officer or member of the government who must go to Parliament, in order to respond in all quietude to the constitutional demands of the legislative body.

The General Secretariat of the Primature, calls for punitive measures against those responsible for this aggression, and reaffirms that it is and remains committed to the principles of the rule of law, essential to the proper functioning of any democratic society.
