Haiti - Elections : The CTCEP can not guarantee the Holding of Elections in 2013 03/05/2013 11:38:15
Concerning the elaboration of the draft electoral law, the President of CTCEP invited political sectors, of the civil society and human rights organizations, to make proposals in the context of the development of this draft bill. "We are working on the document of the electoral budget to organize the next elections, we are not able to say how much they will cost. But the government and our international partners are ready to finance these elections." Regarding the holding of election this year, he said that members of CTCEP were not able to give such a guarantee and that before to think about an electoral calendar, advisers must should be aware of issues "We are doing a full and complete evaluation of the institution and take steps to improve its performance [...] We have taken precautionary measures [...] we terminated more than a hundred contracts [...] some will be renewed and new contracts will certainly be signed." Emmanuel Menard believes that the organization of the next elections before the end of the year is a necessity for the country does not fall into a new political crisis.
