Haiti - Politic : The Parliamentarians Unsatisfied of their Work...
On Monday, the National Assembly ended the first regular session of the 49th Legislature for the year 2013. While the deputies are on holiday until the second Monday of June and thaty the Senators sit permanently, Simon Dieuseul Desras, President of the National Assembly drew up a poor record of the first Session.

In his closing speech Senator Desras revealed that from January to May, of a total of 20 plenary meetings, "the deputies were able to vote 5 laws, ratified 3 international agreements and conventions, introduced 11 bills, formed 3 committees and conducted 2 sessions of questioning of the government..." Concerning the balance of the Upper House the Senators have no lessons to give, in 13 plenary sessions "the senators voted 4 laws, adopted 4 resolutions, ratified 4 agreements and international conventions and filed 3 bills ..." Addressing parliamentarians he asked them, "What have we done of the confidence of our constituents in regards to the mission they entrusted to us ? Do you feel ready to go to meet them ?"

Criticizing the state of progress of records, both in the Parliament as well as the Executive, Senator Desras called on all stakeholders to rectify the situation and working for the genuine reconstruction of the country and of republican institutions.

On the sidelines of the closing ceremony, the presidents of the two Chambers, and several parliamentarians, did not hide their dissatisfaction with the work done during this first session. The deputies seemed neither proud or satisfied with their performance on the eve of their departure on holiday.

The Senator Jean-Baptiste Bien-Aimé, showed his dissatisfaction, avoiding talking about the responsibility of his colleagues deputies et senators, it charges the executive the responsibility of the lack of productivity of this first Session "It is the Executive that is at the asis of this poor record [...] The Executive Branch has always found a way to divide the parliamentarians on specific issues."

For the deputy Ronald Larêche, this poor record is due to a lack of dynamism in the bureau and the lack of responsibility for his fellow "I'm not satisfied with the results of the work of eputies, We could do better."
