Haiti - Culture : The President Martelly enrolled in the Haitian Bureau of Copyright
On Friday, the President Michel Martelly, former star of the Haitian music, enrolled in the Haitian Office Copyright (BHDA), a state institution with the objective to protect the rights of authors. The Head of State has formally completed his application form, in order to give the example to artists, composers and writers whose twenty made ​​the same day, the same approach.

"The work of creation is the work of the author. And all work deserves a salary, the salary of the author and artist are the rights that the decree of 12 October 2005 granting them. With the BHDA, the artist who is registered is supported by a state agency that works to enforce its rights," declared the President Martelly, encouraging other Haitian artists and creatorsto follow suit, convinced that artistic and intellectual creation can make money.

Emmelie Prophète Milcé, Director General of BHDA, Josette Darguste, the Minister of Culture as well as the artists present have welcomed the initiative of the Head of State leading by example "We mus tbe able in this country to focus on the artistic and intellectual creation. It can and must make money. It should also allow those who engage in to meet the obligations of life. This is the case in many countries," recalled the Head of State recalled that according to the report "Our Creative Diversity" of the UNESCO the countries that have recognized the strategic importance of the creation, of copyright and of cultural industries and tha thave given them the attention they deserve, are today privileged on the plans cultural and economic. The nations that have neglected them, face a difficult choice : being invaded by foreign cultural products and content."
