Haiti - Social : The Hospital of the State University of Haiti plunged into darkness...

Last Sunday evening, the new protection system of the 69,000 volts line supplying the substation Toussaint Brave was triggered, following a failure in the main control box, causing an automatic shutdown of circuits serving the Downtown of Port-au-Prince, the Government Agencies, the eneral Hospital, as well as residential neighborhoods of Pacot, Debussy and Turgeau.

Following the interventions of teams of the EDH and specialists on site, service was restored Monday, June 3 at 11:32 am in the downtown of Port-au-Prince. The EDH deeply apologize for this interruption and thank the population for its understanding and cooperation.

An interruption that was not without consequence to the Hospital of the State University of Haiti (HUEH), which found itself plunged into darkness for several hours. If the EDH assumes the responsibility of this incident, this failure highlights a malfunction of the largest hospital center of the country, whose the generator, for lack of fuel (according to the administrator), was unable to provide the necessary back-up electricity, causing the paralysis of several services including: emergency, radiology, pediatrics and the morgue whose the generator and some refrigeration equipment are useless for almost two months...
