Haiti - Culture : Opening of the colloquium on «Taxation of culture»

Monday at the Hotel Montana Josette Darguste, proceeded to the official opening of the Colloquium on the «Taxation of culture». This two-day colloquium is organized in partnership with the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Social Affairs, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Haiti (CCIH) the Chamber of Trades and Crafts, the Haitian Institute of Statistics and Information (IHSI), the International criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL), the United Nations Organization for Education and Art Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the Directorate General of Taxes (DGI), the General Administration of Customs (GAC) and the National Office of Arts (ONARTS).

During these two days, participants from various backgrounds, will reflect on the problem of the formalization of cultural sector and the protection of cultural objects. This Colloquium aims to facilitate the integration of actors of Haitian cultural sector in the economy through the development of the regulatory framework, and protect the heritage objects within an area of ​​free movement of cultural goods and services.

According to the Minister Darguste, this initiative should allow all creators and producers of the cultural channel to participate in the development of the sector. It reflects the government's desire to support, through the Ministry of Culture, the Haitian cultural sector : "This colloquium is a first step towards the taken over by the state of this growing sector."
