Haiti - Justice : The CSPJ reminded the judicial authorities of Petit-Goâve, their responsibilities 13/06/2013 11:01:44 "This is a session of initial contact, a working day for the judges of Peace and court officials know what the Superior Council must apply under the administration and the discipline that it is responsible for enforcing. According to a old practice observed at the level of Justice, many judges believe to be autonomous and not accountable to anybody. This is indeed true when it is question for a judge to rule or decide according to the law and according to his conscience, on a case brought before it. But simultaneously, there is a lack of control and administration, which leads to deviations due to the fact that the judge or magistrate, knows that nobody has the right to protest... We believe that this approach undermines the proper functioning of the justice [...] That is why we, the us of CSPJ, we decided to meet with the Presidents of the Court of Cassation, judges and the Deans responsible of courts of first instance in the country and the holders judges of Courts of Peace so that we agree on what should be the administration of the courts and how it should be done. In addition, judges are obliged to submit reports on the legal rate," declared Me Dilia Lemaire, that encourages justiciable victims of abuse and wrongdoing from judges to file a complaint with CSPJ...
